Comic Review Xanadu

Image
Comic Book: Xanadu Author: Vicky Wyman Issues:   10 normal issues and 9 Fanzine issues (Technically not finished) Hard Core Scale: 10/10 Normal Scale: 10/10 Publish Date: 1988 About:   The Kingdom of Xanadu is under threat by a thief. The newly crowned princess must deal with issues in and out of her domain.Though, perhaps it is a stolen heart on the inside that will be the cause of her ultimate troubles. Review: Wow! Beautiful in art and stories. This is something special. Even though not finished the two volumes of ten wrap up nicely to be very, very content. The fanzine stories of course not finished, but provide extra depth and fun. This does include that incomplete third volume therein. Magical. All these writers are top notch fine and it is a shame this was not finished. Also, a shame of where is people’s ability to write like this. Every character is likeable, the setting so much fun, and so packed with pugboo goodness worth the read if you can find a ve...

Book: Patterns in Frost: Stories from New Tibet Volume Three

Book: Patterns in Frost Stories from New Tibet Volume Three Author: Tim Susman, Et al. Pages:142 Hard Core Scale: 2.16/4 Normal Scale:7.57/10 Publish Date:2019 About: The third volume of short stories on the cold hellish world of New Tibet Review: A Soft White Damn by Ryan Campbell ¼ 6/10 On a random encounter a hare finds another with a plan to escape New Tibet. Severe frame problems leading to breaking tell problems. No frame no game. Cyclic in New Tibet motif at this point. Perhaps some of it was due to brevity, but just came away with not a good felling upon its completion. There was earned catharsis yes. There was equivalent exchange, but the whole plot rested on severely bad character decisions that did not seem to have a natural reaction. I just found myself annoyed by the story’s obfuscation and the writing issues. Puzzling from such a reward winning writer. The Catch by Huskyteer ¾ 9/10 A fishing woman plans to send her daughter off world, but gets wrapp...

Comic Book Review: Mirror

Image
Comic Book: Mirror Author: Emma Rios and Hewi Lim Issues: 10 Hard Core Scale: 4/4 Normal Scale: 10/10 Publish Date: 2015 About: The Izrah colony tries to survive its terraforming process on a dependency of genetic altered stock. However, no love is as powerful as a boy and his dog. Review: Originally part of Image’s Eight house project for a shared SF/Fantasy universe. This to my knowledge is the only one of those titels that got off the ground and completed. The whole concept of the 8house really just floundered sadly and made a confusing mess due to publishing and names, despite how good the stories, art, and worlds were. A shame, but at least one of them made it through. Mirror is great. It’s more than great, its fantastic. The water-colored art, beautiful, feeling pages both in the familiar and the surreal to the pinnacle of the ideal chair and beyond. It is a lovely juxtaposition between natural, unnatural, magical, mundane, animal, human, and other. This is th...
